Cook County Government ExaminerLinda Shelton

Tom Tresser, a long-time arts activist, prolific community development practitioner and consultant, organizer and educator, is an announced candidate for President for the Cook County Board of Commissioners. He is emerging as the dark horse candidate because, although a tenacious and talented activist and educator, he is relatively unknown. He is the Green Party candidate for board president.

The following quotes are from Tresser's campaign materials and from this writers interview with Tresser on December 8, 2009.

Tresser states that he is the only candidate that is "unbossed and unbought" He has a history of fighting city hall. I'm "the only guy in this race who is going to attack the machine". His record reveals he has been successful at this endeavor in the past.

His message to the voters is: "Have you had enough!"

Tresser states that "Cook County Government is an appendage of the Machine." " I'm the only candidate that took on Mayor Daley and President Obama." [successfully helping to fight bringing the Olympics to Chicago in 2016.]

"The Greens don't take any money from organizations or businesses, we only take individual contributions."
