• Over 200 emails were sent by 75 PDA-IL supporters,  most to
Senators Durbin and Burris. See Durbin’s response letter.
• Our biggest response ever!

Making Waves: Citizens Against Privatization of Our Water (CAPOW!)

PDA-Chicago is partnering with NorthSide Green Party-Chicago to build a coalition against a privatization we want to stop Before it starts.

PDA Steering Committee member Arlene Gloria Hirsch is partnering with Kathy Cummings of Greens to create a coalitizion to stand up to Mayor Daley's rumored plan to privatize Chicago’s water system.  Making Waves, as the new group is called, aims to keep Chicago's water in the public hands.  Get involved.

Electoral Campaign Results:
-  Lozano, Garcia, Smith, Williams
-  Harold Washington progressive movement revised.  PDA played a
    role.
• Regular Dem machines declines
-  PDA committed to building a strong electoral capability.
• Upcoming electoral actions: Gill, Bean? Green?

Tom Tresser: Organizing Against the Olympics and for Cook County Board:
Tom Tresser, founder of No Games Chicago and Green Party candidate for Cook County Board will talk about how he organized a successful community action group and runs for office on a shoe string and manages to do both pretty well.

Which Way the Progressive Movement?
PDA is scratching its head.   Obama and the Democratic Party reject progressive politics and the CPC refuses to fight for principle or even tactical advantages. What then should be our relationship and role within the Democratic Party? What is the way forward for Progressives?

Member, Mike Lemke outlines his idea, a Congress of Progressive Organizations, that might let us leap frog forward.  See Mike's proposal paper HERE.

PDA Strategy Session:
• March. Set priorities for 2010. New allies.
